A magical place
CAPTURING THE ESSENCE OF IBIZA
A piece of barefoot magic
Sitting steps above Sa Galera, with the nature reserve to one side and the famous Sa Galera point and its sunset views to the other, Casa Tenma occupies a uniquely calm pocket of the island. It is minutes from San Antonio and its beach clubs and conveniences, yet feels a world away, content to belong entirely to its own quiet stretch of coast.
What makes this place truly rare is its relationship with the water. A gentle seven or eight minute trail leads down through a little canyon to a secluded cove, where few people come — there is parking for barely a dozen cars, so most arrive on foot — and where boats cannot anchor, the seagrass beds being protected. The result is water of extraordinary clarity and a cove teeming with life: snorkellers here have shared the sea with everything from fish in their multitudes to the occasional dolphin and octopus. It is the kind of clean, living, half-secret water that is increasingly hard to find.
For those who like to move, the setting is a gift. Within twenty minutes on foot lie three of the finest beaches in the area — from Punta Galera to Cala Gracioneta, home to one of the best beach restaurants on the island, and its neighbour Pomelo, and on to Cala Salada, counted among the most beautiful beaches in the Balearics. Beyond them, hikers, bikers and runners have the trails, hills and coves of the west coast to explore at will.
Further afield, discover the natural drama of Es Vedrà, the great rock rising offshore, or cross the water to the endless sandy beaches of Formentera.
